What personal information does the C & E Fund gather?
Information You Give Us
Information you provide for our online loan application portal is intended for the use of only the C & E Fund and your medical school's designated loan officer in the process of evaluating applications for potential loans to be disbursed by the C & E Fund. None of the information collected is shared with organizations external to C & E Fund or your medical school.
If you supply us with your e-mail address, we use this e-mail address to send notifications regarding your loan (e.g. loan application status, upcoming loan payment reminders, account past due notifications, etc.).
If you make a loan payment using the Student Loan Application Portal we will also ask for payment information such as credit card type and number. This information will be used by our online payment processing vendor, First Data, to process your payment. Your security is our priority and we employ advanced technology to protect personal information collected online against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures may include, among others, encryption, physical access security, and other appropriate technologies. As an added level of protection, your credit card information will not be stored in our servers after your payment has been completed.
We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us.
For example, like many Web sites, we use "cookies," (alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer to allow our system to recognize your computer) and we obtain certain types of information (e.g., IP Address, Click-stream, browser type and version, operating system, platform, and date and time of access) when your Web browser accesses the Student Loan Application Portal.
We use this information to evaluate use patterns so future modifications to the site will respond to site user’s needs.
Does the C & E Fund share the information it receives?
Information about our applicants and borrowers is an important part of our operations; it informs every decision we make. We are not in the business of selling it to others. We share your information only as described below:
We employ other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf (e.g. loan payment processing). In performing those functions, they may have access to your information to do the work for which we engage them.
We do not share your email address with anyone without your prior permission.
We may disclose personally identifying information if we are required to do so by law or we in good faith believe that such action is necessary to (1) comply with the law or legal process; (2) protect our rights and property; (3) protect against misuse or the unauthorized use of our Web site; or (4) protect the personal safety or property of our users or the public.
How secure is your information?
When you submit personal information via the Student Loan Application Portal, your information is protected both online and offline with what we believe to be appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. For information submitted via the Student Loan Application Portal, we use the latest Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt your information.
You are responsible for protecting against unauthorized access to your computer, your password, and your account.
